Winter’s Absolution (Obsidian Blades MC)

Winter’s Absolution (Obsidian Blades MC)
by Kristina Canady

Reality can be more terrifying than the strange tales that sometimes circulate. When inky blackness creeps and crawls into every internal recess of a human being, it can be a recipe for living hell on earth.

But sometimes, even in the most desolate, frigid terrains… absolution can be found.

Serpent tongues, slithering all around, hissing violent, toxic things, choking the very life out of me… There is no light here, yet I cling to a formless hope that may not even exist. Even as this personal prison tries to wring the last bit of breath from my cold body, I can’t help but think that a lifeline will be thrown to me through the barrage of taunting shadows that tempt me with whisperings to simply end it myself.

The voices of past deeds and experiences never stop, no matter how hard I work to get over the scarred bits that are always on the verge of being picked open like a sore that will never heal. Most days, I’d rather bang my head into a concrete slab until they all just shut the fuck up. That all stopped the day I found her, a broken, quivering mess who was afraid to leave my property. Her personal demons shone through her sunken eyes, and I knew I had found someone familiar. She scared me to death, but through her, my purpose in this godforsaken world came into focus. She needed me to be a beacon… to show her the way out of the desolate pit of hell that I had only recently figured out how to climb out of.

***Warning. This book is for mature audiences only and has many triggers including strong language, sexual/fetish content and rape/ abuse flashbacks. This is a work of fiction about surviving and is not for the faint of heart. *** This is an MC Romance with dark edges…

Nothing Special V

Nothing Special V

The boys are back and fiercer than ever!

“We were a unit tonight, moving as one. Even apart, we are deadly, but when combined – we are f**kin’ unstoppable.” ~~ God ~~

Atlanta’s notorious narcotics task force is at it again. They are stronger, bigger, and better than ever. Especially when a city councilman sends RECON Marine, Edwin Steele – who’s been blacklisted from his Oakland department – to join the team. God and Day weren’t recruiting. They have a lot on their plates, like the fact they’re supposed to be getting married soon. They don’t have the time or the patience to integrate a decorated war hero with a slight chip on his shoulder into their well-oiled machine.

A hothead that’s uncontrollable and terrible with authority… but wasn’t that their team motto?

Steele was ready to hang up his shield. He was done fighting with bigoted bastards that couldn’t respect the job. He was good at fighting; he just needed the right team to fight with. When his uncle – City Councilman, Rasmus Steele – shows him a video of God’s team in action, he knows right away, it’s where his nephew belongs in order to restore his faith.

Steele pointed to the driver, a behemoth of a man wielding those massive firearms like a true beast… like a soldier. “And him. Who the hell is he?”

“That’s your new boss. Lieutenant Cashel Godfrey… they call him… God.”

Steele was skeptical about his new placement, but when he meets God’s technology specialist/computer genius, “Tech,” he’s willing to give it his all, and he definitely shows and proves.

Tech is stunning. His sweater vest and khakis, a stark contrast to the blue-jeaned roughnecks he works with. A beautiful sheep amongst the wolves. Steel thinks there’s no way the brilliant man would be interested in a hardhead like him, but Tech has a few badass hidden talents of his own and manages to surprise him… surprise all of them.

This story is a part of a series but can stand alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has a HEA. There are no multiple pairings in this novel.

Day’s eyes glistened as he smiled up at him and God’s smile fell slowly. He was so in love. Christ. “My husband,” he whispered roughly, an edge of wonder to his tone, like life couldn’t be this amazing to him. “You are my husband, Leo.”
Day rubbed his calloused fingers over the course hairs of God’s goatee. “Yes.”
Day wasn’t sure how long they laid there holding each other, the magnitude of the day sinking into their souls. They were one now, but only officially. He and God had been connected for years. From the first day at orientation when they locked eyes across the room. Day had known, even then, that God was a man he wanted around him for a long time, in whatever capacity he could have him. But only in his dreams did he see this.
Day reached up and pulled the already slackened knot of God’s tie and removed it the rest of the way. He kept his eyes on God’s while he unbuttoned his shirt.
“Aren’t you supposed to go and slip into something sexy for me?” God questioned.
Day couldn’t stop the burst of laughter again. “What is going on with you? When did you learn all this traditional stuff?”
God shrugged. “It’s common knowledge.”
Day nodded, a sneaky grin on his face. “Okay. You put on something sexy and so will I.”
God rolled over and let Day get up. Their luggage had been brought to the room earlier that day by one of their guys, so Day grabbed his duffle bag and went in the bathroom, throwing a seductive look over his shoulder at God before he closed the door.
I’ll show him my sexiest outfit, God thought after Day closed the door.
God took off his suit, removed every stitch of clothing and laid across the bed amidst all those fucking flowers. Naked as the day he was he born. His sexiest outfit.

Evette gives it 4 stars.: 4

What a great read! Sexy alpha cops, smart and snarky and so much heart. There is a bit of everyone from the series and introduces us to Steele and Tech’s love story.

God and Day- just so much swoony happiness!

I love that Steele is older. But still super confident after a moment of doubt. How he is able to forgive himself and create a future with so much hope. The chemistry that explodes and then goes on a slow burn with Tech-wowza! No high angst (yay!) but Steele goes after his man and they both find their bit of happy.

I felt like singing “I’m and big kid now” several times for Tech and enjoyed his added confidence.

Having the team come together, stronger with the new members, can’t wait for more.

A few detractions for me:

Editing errors were very distracting- yes I could figure them put, but it definitely caused pauses in the flow.

The whole Preston, Ric, Blair drama. Just why? Seemed a waste of a story arc.

The story wandered between the case and court time, and the timeline was a bit confusing. Had to go back and read to make sure I didn’t/wasn’t missing anything.

Absolutely adored the mini story with Genesis and Curtis!

4 Stars for the series!

I am not sure I can pick a favorite couple. Each book was exciting and so damn hot! I enjoyed the family that God and Day created within their team. Nothing better than finding your place in the world.

Each story focused on a couple, but includes all the rest of the team. Syn and Fury burned the brightest, God and Day so much swoony yum, Michaels and Judge made me cry, Ruxs and Green made me laugh and warmed my soul. Smart, funny and snarky- what more could I ask for? Love this made family and all of their drama.

You’ve seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!

We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more.

But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one: my brother’s best friend, and CEO of the company where I interned.

Even knowing I should stay away, I proved to be too human, after all.

The chemistry was amazing.

The laughs were incredible.

I opened up to him in more ways than I’d opened up to anyone before.

But sex was as far as I’d go.

Just sex because he was too irresistible.

Just sex because I wouldn’t be falling for him.

Just sex because I’d leave in three months, and I’d like for my brother not to kill me, and for nobody to find out he was my wicked little secret.

He wasn’t the One.

He was just a womanizer.

But for a time, he would be mine.

Janette gives it 4.5 stars.

Callan if anything has gone all the way when pursuing something but he knew as much as he wanted her, needed her even craved her he wouldn’t hold her back. But he isn’t a power business shark for nothing and the moment he realized she was more than any business take over he soon knew go big or go home.

Callan knew she was it for him but getting her to stray from her perfectly laid out plans was ginger to be his biggest acquisition.

Karma is a tricky thing she puts upon your path the things you least expect or need when it’s not within your time frame or thoughts.
